A beautiful daybed from the “Pirkka” series, designed by Ilmari Tapiovaara and manufactured by Laukaan Puu in Finland around 1950.
It is made of high quality pine wood in a beautiful warm brown and deep black colour. The thick base consists of two sturdy rectangular legs, holding the three long slats that create the top. The strong, rustic materials combine really nicely with the minimalist design of this piece and creates a unique modern style that is typical for the work of Tapiovaara. The mattress and pillow have new white bouclé fabric upholstery, really nicely matching the materials and style of the piece and making this an outstanding addition to the interior!
It remains in very good, original condition with minor wear consistent with age and use, preserving a wonderful patina.
